Sarah Richardson
Sarah Richardson’s jewelry is a process of evolving designs. Drawn to the organic quality of each individual pod, a repetition of these elements creates geometric form. Using traditional wax carving techniques, each piece is hand carved, then cast in 18KY gold or sterling. Using heat to bring the fine metal to the surface, each piece is then polished on the edges creating an interior glow. Inspired by her family’s history of intricate lace fabrication, Richardson has explored casting vintage cotton lace into precious metals of silver and gold. The cast lace has such pronounced texture and movement that it creates an illusion, by which one is fooled until touching the jewelry to know it is truly metal.
