Artist's Biography ~
Yasuko Azuma began a career of artistic expression in Sapporo, Japan. She studied fashion design and launched a successful career with a Japanese apparel company before moving to New York to pursue her design passions. In 1994 she began studying jewelry design at The Fashion Institute of Technology and perfected her skills in hand-made jewelry and workmanship. Azuma has a special affinity for using semi-precious stones like tourmaline and citrine and setting them in matte yellow gold for unique yet timeless pieces. Her faithful following (including Clay Pot employees) admires her use of nature’s timeless inspiration and Japanese techniques with a romantic edge. Simple, yet expressive, each piece in Azuman's line is organically perfect.
